Quick Update

posted in Cancer Sucks! on 03/09/05 at 08:03 PM

I got some more good news yesterday. Dr. Kelly, the cervical cancer specialist, called me and told me that I am scheduled for my surgery next Wednesday. I went for my pre-op bloodwork and x-ray today so now I just have to wait until the 16th. I am so excited and I can’t wait for them to cut me open. Take all that crap out! I don’t need or want it anyway. God, I can’t wait! So, that’s all that’s new with me. How are you? How’s your momma doin’? What’s new in your life?

Well, a couple of days ago, a dear friend discovered that a person she’d known and worked with for several years was actually related to me! She resides in Quebec, I live in British Columbia and our shared ancestors immigrated from Ireland to New Brunswick in 1819. Yesterday, I called my relative (we share the same great grand parents) and it was like we’d known each other all our lives!

Today, I got to speak to my dear friend for the very first time. She’d recently inspired me to go off on a sestina composing binge which included a tribute to a delightful word sparring partner. We’ve shared so many thoughts about writing and the whole damn thing that it’s like I’ve been her friend forever. What a lovely creative life I’m leading. Here I was worried that having an easier life was going to undermine my writing escaping escapades. Not at all!

Not only that but I had a poem composed for which paraphrased my most favourite poem in the world. The person who wrote it had no idea I loved William Blake’s poem The Tyger and yet chose it for the basis of his charming tribute. Get this, he is born in the year of the Tiger too! Amazing.

My week has been awash with remarkable coincidences which have all been pleasant. Could it get any better? I’ll have to wait and see.

Thank you for actually answering me Pen! =] I wasn’t sure anyone would.

You HAVE had a remarkable week! Jammed full of coincidences! If I were you I would probably be a little freaked out! lolol

You are welcome and I enjoyed doing so!

Honestly Aeryn, serendipity happens to me so frequently that I’ve learned to embrace and actually cultivate it. The more open one is to the sublime, the more likely it is to happen. Spirituality is a huge part of my life.

oh .. I took the dice quiz – I’m an d8.

very accurate assessment too.
